Emerging in the later part of the last decade with deft songcraft and a sound all her own, Mousey writes songs from the heart in true earnest fashion. Wading in a pool of warm instrumentation, tight band-arrangements and striking vocal performances, her sophomore album MY FRIENDS earned high alternative and student radio praise and a No. 10 placing in Aotearoa’s album charts, cementing Mousey as a fixture of Aotearoa New Zealand’s heavy-hitting songwriter selection.
As a live act, Mousey’s performances are characterised by her faultless vocals, her multi instrumental musicianship and raw emotional energy. After multiple national tours, festival appearances and a string of support slots (with the likes of The Beths, The Chills, Reb Fountain and Princess Chelsea) Mousey is set to continue her own brand of raw, hook heavy indie sounds further into this decade.

The Dreams of Our Mothers' Mothers! is Mousey's third album. In it, she dives deep into her feelings of self doubt around her adolescent/family life, and the contrast of seeing her upbringing through a new lens as she becomes a mother herself.
Since her surprisingly fully formed and beautifully surprising debut album Lemon Law landed in 2019 with breakout single Extreme Highs, Mousey - the songwriting nom de plume of Ōtautahi’s Sarena Close - has been slowly but surely honing her craft. Her 2022’s album My Friends drew praise from all corners, with Rolling Stone Australia noting “Mousey’s lyricism and songwriting are excellent, bolstered by the album’s phenomenal production.” Now, once dubbed by Radio New Zealand as “one of the brighter young talents on the New Zealand music scene”, this APRA Silver Scroll nominee returns with the emotive and bold songwriting grand slam The Dreams of our Mothers’ Mothers!
